That is most surprising! I still think it's the best Maserati being built at the moment.

Not sure what I will do at this point. Might wait, might buy another classic but probably will not do anything this year.

ya' hate to say it too, think it could use a remake Like in terms of 50-60's getting a remake by their owners....but is starting to warm up a bit.

would I ever buy one for this NEW price : NOT happening....would rather spend on a classic or 599/458

but, CA has it's typical 2+2 way with F-owners....warming up when the price is really right.

Agree. In eight or ten months - when the price is right - I may take another look myself...

Is the 40th anniversary of Woodstock affecting your thinking, guys?

A California looks good to you?

You are now definitely smoking funny stuff!

Test drove one recently. So much for growing on me. Only Ferrari test drive I have ever cut short. Definitely not my type of Ferrari.

F of SF had a black one come in mid-May. They still have it!

Does not look like a big seller!

However, it's actually Rik I am worried about!!!

Boxer, what specifically did you find wrong with the California?

I would have expected it to drive like a modern update of a 550, seems similarly a cruiser, similar weight/ size?

Am I barking up the incorrect tree?

agreed: Inquiring minds want to know that you cut short a drive: ashamed in a 2+2 were we? I know you have fondness for the ol' queen 365, so what gives.

Much more like a modern update of the Mondial which they have tried to make more "sporty".

Driving it, it has a certain "video game" type quality to the experience. Everything feels very computer managed down to the exhaust notes. While it is a fast car, it is not light or quick. It is very much lacking in the type of driver "involvement" that I really enjoy when driving a Ferrari (off to take the F40 out now :stee ringwheel

On the drive, please see below.

Regarding 2+2, never crossed my mind (and it is not really a 2+2, no human being above 2 feet in height could sit back there). Drove a 612 on the Goodwood track a few months ago. It was very impressive. For a car its size and weight, it goes, stops, and turns extremely well. In fact, if they drop another 20%, I would seriously consider buying one.
