I saw it, but I'm on my iPad on safari. Didn't look great IMHO. The thread is called "Picked up my 458 last night" in the 458 section. Onno Future: No idea Present: 458 Italia, 550 Maranello Past: 365BB x 2, 330GTC |

Here are the pics. You have to hand it to Ferrari..... the bumper is fully painted body colour then the inserts are painted grey or black afterwards which involves more labour and material cost for them. However they figured out they could get away with charging MORE and spending less by offering the full colour version as an option ![]() I'm not a fan of the colour coded look either. Don't know if I like it, I would have to see it in person IMO. The photo quality isn't great either, to me it looks like the car is very plastic, the picture is too bright :\ Future: - Nero Ferrari 458 Italia with yellow calipers ^^ |

I like it. Makes it look even more like a Dino 246.

I like it, but I think I like the original better.

Looks like those who have a 458 or have one on order do not like it, understandable, and some of those who do not have one, like it or are ambivalent. Human nature.

Might be ok with the wings painted too. That whole section needs to be black or painted IMO

Mark- I thought about that, perhaps with just the intake screens in black. All we need is a PhotoShop expert and we can see how it would look.

The Scud version front should wake the 458 up just like it did with the 430 - for an aggressive look. Look at all the CF we have on our Scuds - the 458 needs gobs of cf vs black plastic. 16M MP4 - 12C Bentley SS Conv / RR / AH 3000 / Camaro 69Z28

Doug- I believe those flaps in the ducts are available in CF, plus a few other exterior parts. You can see the CF sills in the photo Chas posted below the painted nose 458.

You can have lots of carbon on a 458 if you want from the factory - front winglets, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear grille, engine bay side panels, air box cover, intake plenums, door sill kicks, dash inserts, backs of the race seats, around the middle of the cabin, steering wheel, paddle shifters, centre console, centre tunnel, door pulls etc.

True, but most of all that extra cost is only cosmetic. Seats and less non essential options are better to keep the weight down. Guessing the 458 Scud coupe will be minimum 350k.

Do you guys really care about the weight differentiation? For me, it wouldn't really matter since I know I'm not going to get to 200mph in most cases, but it would be interesting to hear current/past owners of this detail. Future: - Nero Ferrari 458 Italia with yellow calipers ^^

Will- It is all about power to weight ratio. If you lower the weight and soup up the engine, acceleration is improved, even if top speed may not be. Top speed is often dictated by gearing. Any decrease in weight is also beneficial to cornering and braking. The Scud and 16M also have titanium springs, which decrease weight and unsprung weight, so you can use stiffer springs without affecting ride quality as much. Now for something like my 575M, chasing weight loss is kind of a lost cause, but made up for by 434 lb-ft of torque. For the 599 successor with the aluminum chassis, though, the GTO used all the CS/Scuderia tricks to lower weight, increase power and speed up shifting.
