I have to submit my 458 spider order tomorrow (I got notified last thing on Friday night the slot had been called in by the factory). I'm debating being bold and going for Rosso Dino (orange) with the diamond finish wheels, nero callipers, Carbon sports pack, race seats in nero leather and alcantara, silver stitching and an orange centre stripe on the seats. Bold or mad - what does everyone think? The configurator doesn't give a great representation of the colour. I found some pics of a US based 458 in Rosso Dino along with an Enzo which I think looks stunning in this colour. It's a hard colour to capture correctly in photographs. Current: 458 spider (inbound), 246 GT (x 3) Past: 360M, F430 spider, 430 Scuderia, California (x 2), 458 Italia (x 2) |

Iain, I think it would look great. Personally, I'd spec Giallo calipers, but on the Rosso Dino, go for it. 2 quick Qs, 1) to you anticipate (or care) that it might have any additional depreciation effect over and above a Rosso Corsa? 2) if you don't choose Rosso Dino, then what's option 2? Option 2 is the safe bet of Rosso Corsa Barry.

| Thought so. Hard to get a feel for the Rosso Dino from pictures, I'm guessing it would be a lot more striking in the metal. Rosso Corsa is the safe bet, but I'd love to see it in Rosso Dino....

I say orange but black or silver calipers. Orange and yellow is like pink on red. Not enough contrast. I'd ditch the stripe on the seat as well. Just my $.02 |

I like the color, and the 458 looks good in it. My only concern is if it would become dated too quickly. Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most. |

Iain- I had a Dino 246 GT that was Rosso Dino and it was beautiful. My wife's favorite of all the cars we have owned. The 458 is the closest in shape to the Dino of any of the V8 Ferraris, and that Rosso Dino 458 is beautiful. If a bit too wild for you, Rosso Scuderia is an alternative half-way between red and orange, rather than 3/4 of the way like Rosso Dino. On the calipers, I would vote for yellow or aluminum, but then I have yellow calipers, so may be prejudiced. Both those caliper colors look good with any color paint. Terry, The latest Dino I've bought is Rosso Dino and it is simply stunning on that car IMHO. I was thinking the colour for the reason you mention - the 458 has strong design references to the Dino, the spider even more so to the Dino GTS with the side profile buttress look to the roll over humps and the Dino style vents on the engine deck lid. I'm not keen on the yellow callipers against orange. Silver or Grigio Silverstone would be a better bet as they won't clash with the orange paint. I will more than likely be talked out of having this colour though from a resale point of view. I believe it will sell quite easily but it's hard to convince a dealer who has never seen/sold a car in this colour. Iain, I have never really spent any time on the Rosso Dino however you sparked my interest. I think it is very nice orange without being 'too orange' like some of the Lambo colors I have seen. I personally like the yellow calipers on the video posted above. Obviously resale value is a factor but apart from the non-Rosso Corsa / non-Giallo Modena colors, I think Rosso Dino would be the next choice. I hope you enjoy whichever car you decide on. Mike |

Mike, you are correct. Rosso Dino is a much softer orange than the shades used by Lamborghini. Theirs are also metallic whilst the Ferrari shade is a solid. It really shows of the curves on the 246 and I think it will do the same for the 458. I've spoken to my dealer and his view is that as it's a very early car I can get away with going for a different colour. My Rosso Dino 246 should be with them by Friday so I'm going to go down and see it next to rosso corsa cars and look at the 458 on his large screen Atelier configurator. The order will go on the system today for a Rosso Corsa car but he believes there will be at least a week for him to change it if I decide on Rosso Dino. I've never seen on that looked good, once you got to about 10 foot from the car - but if a quality one could be done, would you consider a Rosso Dino wrap? Peel it off at trade in time and no issues re extra depreciation/difficulty in selling the car (or peel it off it you get bored and want a Rosso Corsa). I don't like wraps Barry so it's factory paint only for me.

I like the color combination Iain! I have put together the same color combination previously on Ferrari's site and I think it looks great! Go for it!

I swallowed a brave pill. Rosso Dino with full black leather, grigio chiaro stitching, orange centre stripe to the race seats, carbon sports pack, gloss black callipers, carbon fibre fins, diamond finish sports wheels, painted sports sills. Some Atelier screen captures. Current: 458 spider (inbound), 246 GT (x 3) Past: 360M, F430 spider, 430 Scuderia, California (x 2), 458 Italia (x 2) |
