I am a total F novice . I am looking at 2 458s. Both are red . One with beige interior , one with black and red stitching. Both are about 1000 miles with warranties till early 2014. Both have a lot of options but the red/black has Daytona seats, upgraded stereo . I like beige interior but are sets/ stereo worth it? Thx |

Italia- Hopefully one of our 458 owners can help you. At my age, I really could care less about the stereo, but the color of the interior would be important. You just have to decide what is important to you. Both sound like nice cars, and the best stereo comes out of the tail pipes.

Stereos can be changed: Interiors not so much....Personally I like the beige over dark.....that's just me.

| Are they worth what? You don't specify the price difference between the cars so how can we comment on whether the spec difference is worth it? IMHO the normal seats and the Daytona seats are nice, but neither is even remotely as good as the sport seats. They just look so much better and are comfortable too. On the stereo I have heard a lot of mixed stories, half saying it's great the other half saying it wasn't necessary. Ultimately, this is an answer only you can give. One thing is for certain: when you sell the car again you won't make more money on the stereo/Daytona seats. But these cars should not be about resale anyway. Buy the one that appeals most to you. I would spend a bit more time on the 458 options list, decide what I wanted, wait a bit longer, and then buy the (almost) perfect one when it comes along. Good luck! +1, the sound system has never been a criteria for me for such cars, but the interior definitely is are there any other differences between both cars?

Personally I'd go beige, but that's just a personal preference. As Onno stated, what's the price differential?

Price difference is marginal . About 5k more for beige but it is missing datona seats/stereo upgrade. I tend to like beige but the black/red stitching is kind of nice also.

You cannot upgrade the stereo in a 458. The standard one is fine, the optional is better. It is perfectly legitimate to enjoy good music in a nice car. Actually the exhaust is not all that interesting in a traffic jam or on the highway in top gear at legal speed. As to the seats, it matters more as to sports seats or electric than Daytonas. Personally I think the Daytonas are pretty nice and that would be a factor for me. Black with red stitching suits the car - that is why it was used on the Spider launch configuration. Beige also suits the car - that is why it was used on the Berlinetta launch configuration. So choose what you like the most!!!

My car has Charcoal with red stitching and I like it. The black with red should be very nice especially with Daytona stripes edged in red stitching. The red stitching also provides some contrast to all that black around the instrument panel. I think you younger generation whipper-snappers make music much more a part of your lives than I do. I hardly see anybody under 30 without a pair of earphones semi-permanently appended. That would drive me crazy. Looks like this is going to come down to simple personal preference. Any pics or links so we can make a more informed opinion?

Guys , thanks for all the help. I went with a 2011 red/black with red stitching. It is fairly loaded with front lift, JBL, Daytona seats and on and on. I look forward to being a Ferrari owner. |
