Hi All, Ive just bought a 458 Italia.2011 on a 60 plate. Soon to be on my plates. It is really high specd. I guess im just looking for any hints and tips about the car. Here is what it has!! carbon seats, crema leather, red stiching, Stitched Head rests, carbon led steering wheel, red carpets, carbon dash, diamond alloys in grey, cd multi, i pod, blue tooth, fire exting, harness belts, lower skirts in carbon fiber, sat nav, transmission consol in leather. Head lining in black leather with a crema centre square. Any thing that I should look out for when driving. |

Nice, great specs! I love the carbon dash. The main thing to look for when driving is keeping your license.... the 458 is seriously fast. Have a look at the tyre wear - I've heard some reports of people replacing their tyres after 2,000 miles. A bit worrying. It would also be interesting to see if you have the ability to set the speedometer on the left LCD with the SatNav/Media on the right. I have, so far, only seen 1 car that was able to do this (see pic), all the other 458's can only display the speedo on the right which means it's off when you use the SatNav. It seems a recent software upgrade, and if it is it would be very useful. Onno |

I have put one in my gallery of the interior so far. Is it normal to be scared of getting your dream car ? I cant stop worrying about it . Mainly the ground clearance, and where to put the front number plate. Cheers Jo ! x | |

Did you opt, or is it standard, on the CF brakes? From the looks of the list I'm betting they are in there.

Ceramic (not CF) brakes are standard, you can't get steel on a new Ferrari since end of 2008. The front number plate is a big problem. There just doesn't seem a decent place to put it. For a UK plate I think this guy has a reasonable solution. Whether the plate is entirely legal I'm not sure, though. If you have a personalised, very short plate (say 5 letters), you could try having a narrow plate made and mounting it just above the horsey, inside the recessed area. My dealer tells me this is the solution they often use in Holland. Just make sure that the spacing around the letters is enough otherwise the plate will surely be illegal. Onno |

The plate on that red 458 is illegal in the UK. It's easier to leave the plate off and accept a £60 fine with no penalty points for failure to display. There is a mounting bracket now supplied with the cars but it screws into the front bumper above the Cavalino. It's simpler to bend a standard plate with a little heat then fix it on with the double sided foam tape if you are going to fit a front plate. Any of the specially made show type plates are just asking for trouble IMHO. With the roadside camera ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) system now in place in many areas it is easy for the Police to issue you with a fixed penalty notice for an illegal plate if it is under sized, wrong font etc. Most of these systems are forward facing so if you have no front plate they have nowhere to send the fine to |
