1991 Ferrari 348 engine work

Hi Guys, some pictures of a 348 that I'm doing. I'm freshing up the motor and gearbox. I will be going threw the complete car. Enjoy the pictures . I will post new pictures as I go along.

!!! ............ what are those metal covers over the motor mounts on your last picture? .......... I think I need some of these ........ and if they are not available then I will need to make some

........... I think heat is what kills the mounts on the 355 ................ that and the prodigious HP .......

Hey Alex...Nice job. you obviously started that project a few days ago. She certainly was a dirty girl. Not sure I'm sold on the black crinkle induction but who am I to judge. Was that a customer request? Maybe once its back together it'll look different.

The intake was a request from the cleint. it may look better once it's all back together. i will post more pictures.

Just perfromed a complete valve job. Changed all the guides . Cleaned and resurfaced the cylinder heads.

I perhaps missed this but have to ask:

- I know it's cool to do what your doing and have little problems with it from a cool standpoint, but why? The 348 is very sound/solid. Other than the painting, why break it down that far and do all the inner pieces? I can see it probably needed some cleaning out, but are you into the bearings and ALL the inner items from top to bottom?

- How many miles on the engine?

The car was very tired. The valve guide had too much play. We are doing it complete top and bottom . The car has 40000 miles. it was not serviced properly for many years. We are do the job the correct way. This way I have no problems with the motor burning oil or not runinng correctly. When the car is all done . It will run great with more horse power. We are upgrading the computers , add a complete race exhaust system and much more. I will add more pictures as I go along.

Looking brand new! I like the subframe coming out all at once and refurbishing everything that is hard to get to at once.

Alex- Who provided the valve guides? Seems there are much higher quality guides available from CHE Precision and other manufacturers than there are from Ferrari.

Beautiful workmanship on the entire car. I like the brake calipers with the raised Ferrari polished out and clear coated.

Car is almost finished. Add a few more pictures. I add the front grill mesh , paint the rims white and paint the rear grill black.Next week I will add the last pic of the car finished.
