Best thing you can do when buying a Boxer is check the fuse box. If it is original, get it replaced immediately an install a small computer type cooling fan in the glove box to pull heat away from it. The original fuse panels have a bad habit of overheating and melting.

Another area to check on all the BBs is the fuel lines. Old hoses can crack and they can work themselves loose from the carbs. If this happens fuel either gets sprayed or drips down directly onto the top of the hot engine. The net result is a very unpleasant engine fire. With any car, and definitely with any carb car, always make sure you keep a fire extinguisher in the passenger compartment.
