Default 512BBi Blower Fan Intermittent

It's always something!

Last time I drove the sexy beast, the AC didn't blow. Checked fuses, fan motor connections etc. Found problem when I realized a gentle smack on the fan housing would get it going. It was repeatable, so I zeroed in on the brush support. This thing (fan motor & housing) appears to be part #1 in the assembly of the whole vehicle representing all the associated joy in removing.

Looking for a clever repair: The blower endcap snaps out easily, and I believe the squirrel cage blower if pulled from the motor shaft will slide out thru endcap opening giving access to brush side of motor. Anyone ever done this surgical procedure?
Thanks!!

2D- We have a bunch of Boxer owners, but that seems to be the case. Do you think there is carbon on the windings or are the brushes shot? Should be an easy fix at any shop that does motor windings once you get the motor out.

Every day I look around, and if nobody is shooting at me, it is a pretty good day.

Newman might be able to help.

That's what I'm trying to avoid. Looking for in car fixes, or generally speaking, if you can slip off the squirrel cage fan, does that give reasonable access?

Many thanks fo responses.
