Default 365BB 17857 - €300k...

In the Ferrari Market Letter of this week, 365BB #17857 is offered out of a collection in Italy. Only 3,400kms on the dial. Asking price - €300k.

That certainly is the first time I've seen an asking price for a 365 Boxer that high. This sort of links into the discussion we had last week, regarding low mileage on older cars. It seems clear to me that the seller thinks this mileage is worth at least €80k.

Comments?

I think the seller is somewhat optimistic.
I wonder what condition that car may be in?

It will certainly be interesting to see how the market responds to such an overly optimistic price. Equally interesting would be to see the "repair bill" to get the car back into a drivable/usable state.

I suppose it's worth it if you want a minty museum piece. Or, it could be he's just trying to recover some of his lost stock portfolio. I'm with Peter, if you were buying it to be a driver, the real question would be what maintenance is it going to need.

Even if the car is perfect, my feeling is that €220k is about the maximum for a 365BB. Another €80k seems ridiculous, particularly because the car is not likely to be in great mechanical condition.

This is a car that probably needs close to $100k spent on it before it is a reliable driver again. Think the price is way over market.
