Car came with all tan seats but like the tan/black combo. Want to replace poorly dyed leather with new GAAH leather. Any opinons as to degrading car etc to replace leather with this combo? Thanks |

Replacing nearly 30 year old leather with new leather from GAHH should have no ill effects on value..... Since you're still basically keeping the color tan I wouldn't sweat it. Oh and btw... at the end of the day its your car... do what you want. Are you thinking tan with black piping or tan with black daytona inserts?

Those BB Daytona seats with contrasting stripes are beautiful. Tan with black or black with red both look great. Would like to do the same thing for my 575M.

Many thanks! Also want to address ~30 year old foam that renders seats less than comfortable.

If the car is black, how about a darker reddish tan (hard to describe). Years ago, I saw this black 355 with the aformentioned reddish tan/brown and it had made an impression on me. w/ smiles Jimmy

Jimmy- Was it Cuoio or did it have more red? I remember a guy who had a green 275 GTB/4 with a reddish brown leather in Automobile Quarterly. Matched to a pair of boots he had. Ferrari named the green after him.

I am having my interior redone in my 512bb,one of the issues I am having is, that the black and all colors currently available for that that matter are not the same as original, the black is actually more towards the grey shade. I think even the hides are not the same. I believe this has something to do with the environmentally friendly dyes currently available. |

Thank you all for input. (This is what I tell myself - of course) Being all tan is kind of trick like a show car. But with black carpets, it could stand a bit more black trim like seat inserts. But overall, my biggest problem is the seats are terribly uncomfortable. The junction of back -to-bottom is where it's worst! Any input on how to deal with this would be really well received. I paid a local upholstery shop 200 to build up the bottom a bit per their recommendation and it's still awful |

Taz, I don't know which color to identify this with - maybe beige?? that's the beauty of black (generally speaking). |

You are correct, the BB seats are not the most comfortable. Except for my wife, she loves them, and has no problem falling asleep! My thoughts are, that the seat are incorrect for lumbar support, it's all in the wrong place. Plus the fact that you are actually twisted slightly to the center makes the matter worse. If you drive with your hands towards the bottom of the steering wheel it is a little better. It seems to lessen the strain on the one side of your body due to the very slight Boxer Twist. I like to relax more and place my elbow on the door/window edge and relax more hands, one a 4:00, the other @9:00. |

2D- Looks like beige to me. Also looks like the Daytona inserts have settled, possibly causing the discomfort you are seeing. It may be possible to separate the inserts from the seats and resew them up higher with more of an acute angle where your back is having problems. Have seen the same thing on Daytona and Dino seats, where the inserts tend to slide downwards. Hence the gap between the insert and the top of the seat cushion.

In a fit of desperation, I jusy got a sheepskin seat cover. I-know, I-know. Not the best solution, but it's so springy, it masks many of the basic flaws. I still haven't ventured to drive it and give it a try. Maybe if it's comfortable, this will solve the basic problems, and I can go back to enjoying a really great car.

You know, given all the coverage about the correct vinyl or leather Daytona inserts, I was worried about having to reveal that my BB has been at one stage re-upholstered with a BBi style interior. However if we're talking sheepskin covers then today feels like a good bad news day (as the politicians say).

You understand where I'm coming from. Thank you. As it turns out, the color is so spot on, you really gotta do a double take to realize what's going on. | |
