Steve, that must be fun to have your son giving you the instructions.

Your photographer is doing an awesome job as well. Great shots on the track! Thanks for sharing.

Steve- Beautiful, and she rolls less than my FHP Maranello. You really did well picking up this car. Weighs a bit less (lots) than a Maranello, too, so should perform extremely well.

The BB looks really good on the track. Seems much stiffer and rolls a lot less than other BBs I have seen out being driven hard.

The car has adjustable shocks that have been cranked down to lower it. If you look at a stock BB note the large distance between the top of the rear tire and the edge of the fender above. That space always seems too large to me. It's almost like the wheel/tires look lost in the wheel well. When viewing a stock BB from the rear you will see the lower A-arms angled down from the inside to the outside. On this car they are parallel to the ground.

The BB design has a not-so-great setup with the engine on top of the transaxle. This raises the center of the weight in the car of that huge engine. This suspension setup helps reduce some of the roll.

In 1985 with the arrival of the 288 GTO Ferrari had reconfigured the drivetrain with the engine in front of the transaxle. This [along with a lighter weight] allowed the entire mass to be lowered in the chassis thus improving the handling. Of course it is easier to put an longitudinal V-8 in a mid-engine car than it is a V-12. The TR kept the same drivetrain layout as the BB.

Steve

I am a little late on Ferrari life. I read the Forza article with great excitement. As a matter of fact I still read it.

I have been enjoying my 512BB with the help of Tate at Carobu and Rocco. My 512 only has 447 HP due to the final carb specs and non-flowed cylinder heads.
It is a blast to drive, with no shortage of power.

Like you, I am on sitting on the fence regarding the wheels, but you gave me a great idea, paint..

Tdipower,

447 hp compared to the 360 hp stock is nearly a 25% bump. That is huge. Like my car I bet it really changes the performance in your giallo beauty. I think of them as hot rod BBs.

Before I bought the car I thought the Razzo wheels had been chromed. When I took delivery I noted they were not chromed but polished and clear coated. So painting should not be too big of a deal.
