Hello to All...any recommendation on who is the best aluminum car painter in the country? I have a great 512BB driver that needs to be shown some love and get a really nice paint job. Considering its Rosso Corsa color, but if anyone can tell me what alternative colors were available in 1981, I would entertain a different look. Thanks!

| http://www.karosserie.com/ferrari.htm "the best" is subjective. Frankly, the best probably won't do your car and would be prohibitively expensive if they did. They are generally booked years in advance with multi million dollar historically significant ferraris. Very high quality may be a more reasonable goal. there are many shops capable of doing a magnificent job. I know a single individual that has worked for "the best" in sw virginia which isn't too far from you if you are interested. you can't go wrong with the link above though. very well known for their aluminum work. There were many colours available back in the day, including custom ones, but some off the top of my head were Argento (silver metallic), Bianco (white), Nero (Black), Giallo Fly (yellow), Dino Blu (similar to Bugatti blue), Dino Blu Metallizzato (metallic light blue), Blu Sera (night blue), Rosso Corsa (your colour), Pino Verde (Moss green metallic). There are more but this is what I can think of. Personally I think the BB looks great in any colour, but mine (a 365 that will be restored in the next 12 months) will become a Grigio Titanio colour with oxblood interior. When you select your painter, and you want the best, make sure that you select one that does the surface preparation by hand. If possible, find someone that still does tinning to smooth it. There really is nothing like it, the results are spectacular. That is the route I"m taking for mine. You should be wary of people who are not expensive - I see a lot more poor paint jobs out there than I see good ones. Best of luck finding someone and I hope she comes out spectacular! Onno |

Forget about original colours or non-original colours. There is only one colour: The one you want. It is your car so you decide which colour is best. Personally, I would go for any silver or dark blue on a 512. Good luck! I'm guessing by your username you are in TN? Trying to find you the best body shop for your repaint per your other question.

Beautiful combinaison .(Better than the original red Oxblood red is the same color as the red called "Cartier" ? On the first picture, a Daytona with "Rosso Scuro" (dark red) interior. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Clint's car was the inspiration for my decision! I am very likely not going to use a Ferrari colour for the exterior but will get my painter to put a hint of wine red in the grey. As for the interior, here are some original Connolly and modern Ferrari samples. The colour I have chosen (original Connolly) is marked by the arrow. I have added a fine grain stamp over the leather so it looks older and not shiny. Carpets will be black, I think the Daytona is too red. Onno |

Do you have any idea who you might use to paint your car. I have a 79BB that will need painting in a few years - just starting to craze in a couple of areas. Bo Pirkle in Atlanta does a lot of cars. I had heard at one point that there was a guy in TN that painted Ferraris to a high standard as well. Regards, Drew Altemara |

Will the dashboard be recovered red too? (I think I prefer black) Black carpet with red leather is a big contrast,a dark grey carpets would be nice also but it's more sensible to the dirts of the shoes on rainy days . It's your car, you decide .The grey carpets of one of the picture below are definitely too clear. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |

Red dash? Noooooo! The point of the choice I made is that I want a dark cabin (even though that will be hot in summer). The red is supposed to only make the black a little lighter, it is there for contrast only and shouldn't be the overbearing impression. That's why I've gone for a 'dried-up-blood' kind of colour.Grey carpets is an interesting option, it would make a match with the exterior colour. Thanks for the pics, I didn't have any of red boxer interiors. Onno |

| If you are going to use black on the dash, make sure it is not reflective.
