Default The Making of Classic Rims

As many of you know, Borrani rims are still handmade in Italy. Many people wonder how the rims get their shape without any seams or welding spots. One of our dealers at A&M Garage in Texas has put together this video to show you a little bit. Please check it out:

Thanks for posting.

I had heard how it was done but have never seen it before.

Do you have any idea how the current process may differ from how it was done in say the early fifties?

Also curious because of advances in metallurgy how current production wheels differ in terms of materials used?

I am asking in reference specifically to the reproduction or modern production of vintage wire wheels.

Great insight into making a one piece, seamless rim. Hopefully they will do one on drilling and assembling the wire and hub portion of the wheel, as well.

That is great. Now we have seen three of the nine parts. Hopefully you can find the others and we will have the whole set.

I did not realize how much hand work was involved. No wonder they are expensive, but I cannot think of a way to automate several of those steps.
