My only exposure to Australia was my short visit to Sydney years ago. Unfortunately, it was for a meeting and I literally stepped outside the hotel for only few hours throughout my short stay. Nevertheless, a wonderful country and people. w/ smiles Jimmy

Hello all, after many years of drooling over every Ferrari I could lay my eyes on I have finally taken the plunge and purchased my first Ferrari. I picked up a 2005 model 360 Spider F1 recently and here are the specs. Exterior: Rossa Corsa Interior: Crema Seats: Standard in Crema with Red piping. Carpet: Bordeaux Gearbox: F1 Front Grilles: Challenge Rear Grille: Standard Rossa Corsa Odometer: Purchased with 12,500 Other: Yellow Tachometer, Shields, Red Brake Calipers I live in Werribee based out in Melbourne's Western Suburbs, have got the cruising bug back and have been doing the odd spin around Werribee, Altona, Williamstown, St Kilda and have done the compulsory laps down Lygon & Chapel Streets. I am interested in getting involved with local gatherings and club activities so let me know what/where/when and how and you can count me in. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to 360 related discussions as I have been trolling these forums for a while and have picked up many helpful hints, I have only now decided to start commenting. |

Welcome to FerrariLife and congratulations on the 360. It must be one of the last ones built.

Maragan- Welcome and that is a really pretty Spider. If you also introduce yourself in the member introduction section, you will get a little more exposure and might hit a few more Australian members. Just out of curiosity, what is the Serial Number (last 6 of VIN) on your car? Just curious how late they were building them in 2005 as the F430 came on line. Yours was possibly on the line at the same time as the F430, because production of the two overlapped. Your car has all the upgrades introduced during production, including the last F1 ECU/TCU. Maragan- If she was built in January 05, she is really a late one.

Hi, Maragan, and congratulations on a stunning car! Is that a cream interior? I have a 2007 Australian Ferrari Club register, but it doesn't have any '05 Spiders. January, 2005, is a very late build for a 360 Spider; the latest build date I have for a 360 Spider is December, 2004. Ironically enough, the highest serial number I have for a 360 Spider, is a red/cream RHD Spider (but it's a manual). The highest red/cream RHD F1 Spider I have is 140516.

LP640; sounds like a Lambo moniker?? But seriously I've just bought a '79 308. I'm in Gympie (2hrs north of Brisbane in Queensland). I've been looking for several months, and ended up finding mine in Perth. A long trip I know but I was looking for the best I could find. My comments. A 308 for $60k is cheap. For that money you'll get a recent inport from the UK where the car has spent the last 30 years in a very poor environment (cold/damp/salt on the roads). Before 1984, the 308 had no rust protection, so if you're looking for a cheapie, check it out well. I tested a $60k car in Melbourne and while it was OK, rust had started to show. You should go for the best you can afford. It's well worth it. I tried several and there's a lot of rubbish out there, so tread carefully. And yes 308s are old; some 30 years or so, but that's where the charm lies. No computers, no driving aids, which makes them ideal for DIY maintenance. That's what I brought mine for. Yea the joys of synching four carbs (a great feeling of satisfaction when you get it right). That's why a 308 is usually worth more than a 308i (not to mention the reduced power in the 'i'). This forum has some good buyer's guides, have you read them? Because of their age you should look for one that's been well looked after, and even if you find the best, there will be some issues. They are not a 'set & forget' car. Their joy comes in sorting & tuning them (well for me anyway). Good luck with your search. |

+1 on the comments on rust on the 308, it is even a problem on the very early fiberglass cars.

| Hi, Dean, and welcome! Can you tell us the serial number to your Spider? Is it a UK RHD Spider (C VIN), or was it built specifically for the Australian market (D VIN)?

Hi, I recently bought a '79 308 GTS in Rosso Corsa & tan. I bought it from Perth, and I live in Gympie, two hours north of Brisbane, Queensland. It's in good condition for its age. I bought the carb model so I could most of the work on it myself. Regards Bernie Murphy |

Hi Carbon Spider is Australian delivered and compliant... Sold new Australia in 2001 and I am the 3rd owner now... VIN ends with D00122038 Wonderful cars these are and they are getting more reasonable price wise in Australia now as so many imports are coming in and bringing down costs... Recently blew a heat exchanger and been waiting 5 weeks for parts from Italy now.. car will be ready again next week and hanging to drive it again enjoy the pic dean Remember if the wife doesn't know what things cost she can't get angry |

Beautiful car, DeN, and thanks for sharing the serial number. It looks like you don't mind exercising it, which is fantastic. I hope you get it fixed soon and get back out there.

Hi all, My name is Aaron and I am from Sydney. Hoping soon to own a 360 Modena (Manual!). My dream Ferrari however is to one day have a 575M (SuperAmerica). I was previously part of the FTO car community for around 6 years and enjoyed the car events that it brought along with it. I am also photographer in my spare time and if any of you from Sydney or Melbourne would like some high quality photos of your Ferrari or other exotic vehicle please PM me and I will give you my mobile to get in touch. Just thought it'd be a nice way to meet other owners and get a feel for the community here. |
