Let me know when you are coming down. Wonder where SNJ5 got the guidance to build that thing? |

From what I remember he was quite a study. Will let you know.. A trip to Brian's turns into an all day event, usually stop by the wharf [ Franciscan has special memories for me ] on way back and eat tons of sea food, then wander home avoiding the SFPD giving out $100 tickets for Tubis and no front plate: BTW your Invention of the front plate holder----PRICELESS!!!! I'll call you when getting within a week or so....a couple months off I'm sure. Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic Rik -- LAH ! With all your spare time we should have you do a wiki on exhaust theory, design, and implementation...then again, you'd be giving away the cow with free milk.

Thanks for all the info. on alternators. This is my first major repair on my 89 Mondial t conv. Removing the alternator wasn't much of a problem. I did have to remove the shifter cable bracket to get the main bolt out, but everthing else was pretty straight forward. I don't understand this being a 7 hour job. I'm into it about 1/2 hour. Let's see how I do with the reinstall.

Many alternators are interchangeable with other vehicles. Almost all are rebuildable. My Mondial t conv. has a cs 130 Alternator. It is the same alternator that comes in a Blue Bird bus and several small Freightliner trucks. (I am not joking). I had my alternator completely rebuilt at an alternator shop for $109.25 It took me about 20 minutes to remove and about the same to reinstall. People pay $2,500.00 for this at a shop. Call around your local parts stores until you find a local rebuilder. If not send it to Alternator & Starter Parts Distributors. 530 National Drive, Gallatin, Tennessee 37066. They will rebuild and ship it back to you. I have already confirmed they will do this for you. Their number is 1 800 338 2099. These guys can rebuild any alternator or Starter. Note that the Ferrari alternator doesn't have a lip on the 8v pulley. Some alternator have an extra lip on the outside of their 8v pulleys. Pulleys can be switched obviously. The Alternator on a Mondial t can be removed from under the car. I don't have time to explain now, but I will if someone needs help. 615 364-6756 706BUC |
