Good evening all, I recently purchased a 1984 400i. The goal is to drive it not as a daily driver but a frequent driver (after work, weekends, nice days...). The car was purchased locally (in Ohio, USA) and has been maintained by the previous owner who owns an import auto business. I am having some fuel delivery issues. I think the problem stems from the fuel pump fuses located in the fuse box on the passenger's side. The previous owner had similar problems and traced it to this location. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has had a similar problem. Thanks, Joel PS: This is my first post on the forum. |

I am not familar with the 400i fuse box specifically but other fuse boxes from Ferraris of this era have a tendency to be poorly ventilated and overheat. When you get excessive heat build up all sorts of interesting things start to go wrong and melt. Some owners replace the fuse block with a modern one, install computer type cooling fans, or just leave the panel open on hot days and for longer trips. One other area you might check is the fuel filter. Boxer Current: F40, F50, 612, 430 Scuderia Past: 360 Modena, 360 Challenge, 550, 575, 365BB, 512BB, 456 GT, F355 GTS, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, 308 GTB |

The mechanic who has been working on the car for the last year or so is fabricating a jumper which will remove the fuel pump fuses from the fuse box so we can mount them separately. I will check the fuel filters. I have also entertained replacing the fuel pumps. Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of adding small fans. |
