Default Mondial losing battery charge

Since putting my alternator on (or coincidence) the battery loses charge over a day or so. It loses approximately 0.01 volts every 30 to 60 minutes. I took the battery off (right size and strength 18 months old) and kept checking it with the voltmeter every now and again and it loses no charge but as soon as I put it on the car it starts to steadily fall.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? And how is the best way to start looking? I unplugged my stereo and put the voltmeter in the positive feed and it had a reading of about 0.2 volts which I found a bit strange, could this be culprit?

Any ideas what so ever would be great.

Do you think because the alternator was faulty before and the battery kept dying its actually had it and a new one will solve the problem?

thanks
Darren
